Mantel Clock, 19./20 Jh.

So-called brake clock. The case is made of walnut. Architecturally structured rectangular case in the Baroque style on bronze feet. The arched top is topped with a brass figure of Venus after Botticelli, flanked by two balusters. The front door, framed in gold and glazed, is set between two half-columns. The front plate is made of engraved and chased brass with applied, leaf-like, gilt brass appliqués. The large central arc dial has blued hands and an applied silvered chapter ring with Roman hours and Arabic minutes, above which are various subsidiary dials (sleep shut-off, regulation, melody selection). Pendulum on a metal spring suspension, cylinder mechanism for 8 bells, Westminster chime on a gong. Stamped 'W&H Sch' on the back plate. Key present. 43 x 31 x23 cm. Clock's working order not tested.
