Literature:
The Maison Myrbor was founded in Algiers in 1910 by Marie Cuttoli (1879-1973) a patron of the avant-garde art of the time. Starting in 1932, she produced her first modern carpets, created in collaboration with artists such as Jean Lurcat, Eileen Gray, and Ivan Da Sila Bruhns. Later, she specialized in tapestries, the so-called "tapis de maitres," based on designs by Picasso, Léger, Arp, and De Chirico. In 1933, Marie Cuttoli produced the first tapestries featuring motifs by Miro, the master of Surrealism. At least five carpets with different motifs and colors based on Miro's designs were produced, entitled "Drapeau", "Manguste", "Danseuse espagnole", "Cirque" and finally "Rêve". Another model of the present carpet with provenance from the well-known Cuttoli-Laugier collection was exhibited in the Beyeler Gallery in Basel in 1970.
