The Finnish artist Jorma Puranen is one of the leading figures in contemporary photography. His works move between perception and construction, questioning the supposed reality of the photographic image. At first glance, his works are reminiscent of atmospheric sunrises or sunsets. In reality, however, these images are not created as classic nature photographs, but rather through a complex photographic process. Puranen works with reflective surfaces, deliberate lighting, and staged supports, thereby merely suggesting landscapes and consciously feigning a photographic reality. T
he work selected for this auction captivates with its calm, even color gradient and compelling lighting effect. Between abstraction and apparent representation of nature, a pictorial space of quiet intensity unfolds, inviting the viewer to re-examine perception and illusion.
