Clodion-style planter, around 1870

Bronze, brown patinated and partially gilded. A high, fluted, round foot with a stylized, ring-shaped laurel wreath and palmette frieze rests on a square base with concave corners. Reliefs depicting Bacchic scenes of putti playing Clodion adorn the body of
the transversely oval vessel, with a fluted bronze band around the rim. Two ear-shaped handles formed from foliate tendrils are located on the sides. 38 x 42 x 34 cm. Provenance:
