Bronze, brown and black patinated, red marble base. Nude young woman drinking from a bowl. H. 72.5 cm (with base). Base inscribed: Prof. VH Seifert (incised).
In the period after the First World War, Victor Heinrich Seifert was one of the busiest sculptors in Germany. He created numerous statues and monuments. The Drinking Woman is among his best-known works; a life-size example is his fountain sculpture
in Rostock (1922).
