Figure of a guardian (Lokapala)
The figure stands on a reclining ox resting on a rock-like base. The right arm is bent,
the left arm raised with a clenched fist, originally holding a spear. The unglazed face is decorated with a grim expression in red and black cold paint. The guard is clad in ornamented armor and wears a bird-shaped helmet. Light earthenware with a green, brown, and straw-colored, very finely speckled sancai glaze. Height 90 cm.
Report TL-Test Oxford Authentication No. C125p39 from October 13th 2025 confirms the dating.
