Empire Clock 'Flora'

Bronze, chased and fire-gilded. Above an oval base with raised relief depictions of theater masks and musical instruments, a spherical clock case, framed in blue, rests on clouds. 33 x 28 x 11 cm. The profile-framed white enamel dial is inscribed 'Chocarne à Dijon'. A three-dimensional depiction of the goddess Flora pouring a basket of rose petals over the celestial sphere. A pendulum movement with thread suspension and half-hour striking on a bell. The movement has not been tested for accuracy. Provenance: Estate of the industrialist and Olympic dressage champion Gabriela Grillo.
