Silver collection related to equestrian sports
19th/20th century. Sterling silver. Two sauce spoons with small spoons in the original case, London 1881, partially gilt (3 x 17 x 8.5 cm). Teaspoon/caddy spoon in the shape of a jockey's cap in the original case, Sheffield 1972 (2.5 x 7.8 x 8.8 cm). 9 place card holders, some for insertion or with a clip function, 8 horseshoe-shaped, 4 partially blue enameled, 1 stirrup-shaped, Birmingham, London, Chester, made between 1905 and 1935 (H. 2.5-4.5 cm). Paperweight, silver horseshoe mounted on a wooden base with a clip function, London 1880 (3.3 x 11.5 x 10.5 cm). Small tin in the shape of a horse's hoof, Sheffield 1888, with the name and date engraved on the lid: John Robinson / 1888 (3 x 4.8 x 6 cm). Total weight 380 g (without paperweight and two larger place card holders with filled bases). Each inscribed with different makers, city marks, year initials, and a striding lion. Provenance: Estate of the industrialist and Olympic dressage champion Gabriela Grillo.
